The degree in philosophy at the Millis Institute is an adventure, exploring big ideas, asking big questions, and thinking hard about big problems. When you study philosophy at the Millis Institute, you get to partner in this adventure with some of the best minds in history, from Plato and Augustine to Edmund Burke and John Stuart Mill.
Our small-group Socratic degree in philosophy classes discuss the great works of Western philosophy; find a list of these texts under the Key Texts tab.
Liberal Arts students complete a minor in Philosophy and may complete a major by taking 8 or more units in Philosophy.
Degree in philosophy students undertaking the Oxford Summer Program will complete 2 units as intensives and can chose the following philosophy seminar:
